NOT KNOWING HOW ELSE TO MAKE CONTACT, HERE I AM.
I am a documented descendant of Julian A. Chavez and his daughter Leonides Chavez de Martinez, of Walnut Ca. Her & Her husband, Jose R. Martinez possessed land from Rancho La Puente, where it so happen that Santiago Martinez’s adobe was once located. I believe my grt grt grandfather was related to ENCARNACION Martinez de Trujillo and Santiago, but I have yet to clearly document.. Also in my research, I have seen where Padre Martinez of Taos had a brother Santiago. All this needs to be tied together with the
census records in NM, which to date, I haven’t found any reliable copies of ..
Another aged relative, still living (84 yrs), is Cecilia Wictor, of the” La Puente Historical Society”, who is also a distant relative of John Rowland’s wife..
Also, has anyone checked the papers of the then Governor of California, for this letter of passage, from the Padre Martinez ?
One more thought, since Julian Chavez was into acquiring land and was tied into every one involved, could he be a factor in all of this some how ??
Thank You for your time and I hope we can be of help to each other !
